The Rise of Women Entrepreneurs
The rise of women entrepreneurs should be of huge interest to you. Especially because women entrepreneurs are becoming tough competition in what was once a male-dominated area. From the time period of 1997 to 2006 About.com reports that, “…businesses fully women-owned, or majority-owned by women, grew at nearly twice the rate of all U.S. firms.”
What I find particularly interesting, is that with the amazing growth of women entrepreneurs, which is nearly half of all businesses in the U.S. alone, there still remains an innate desire to hold onto the responsibilities as caretaker, nurturer, and an undeniable interest in affecting the world by helping others.
Women are outstanding relationship-building models, which is essential to running a business for long-term growth and sustainability. Even more far reaching are their skills in taking these very relationships and further developing them to collaborate to directly change the world we live in.
Here are two exceptional women entrepreneurs who I have had the pleasure to meet over the last six months and they are impacting the world in exciting and life-changing ways.

Dr. Ellie Drake: An exceptionally beautiful woman inside and out, Ellie Drake, wife and mother of two children, leads the Braveheart Women Community for women who choose to be inspiration in action.
I recently was a VIP guest as part of the Social Media Press entourage at Ellie Drake’s RISE Kickoff party in Century City, California, where famous and successful women entrepreneurs joined together to empower each other and collaborate with like-minded women.
This evening of festivities was not just the opening night to promote the huge three-day, celebrity filled RISE event taking place in Beverly Hills in October, but was an inspiring evening of what it means to be a woman in today’s world.
Ellie is helping to change the world by bringing together women in a community of love and support. She is also generously providing a portion of the proceeds of her RISE event to building a school for girls in the Congo.
Vivian Glyck: Founder of Just Like My Child Foundation and past director of marketing for Deepak Chopra, Vivian Glyck is a big thinker and achiever, who motivates people across the world to help empower the women and children of Uganda.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Vivian at two past events I recently attended, and her passion for creating a means to educate, provide health care and encourage microenterprise is more than inspiration.
It’s a call for all of us women entrepreneurs to serve the world.
Vivian had a vision to help the poverty-stricken people in Africa, where nearly 13 million children are orphaned by AIDS and where every 30 seconds a child dies of malaria.
She has inspired me to host a sit down dinner fundraiser for 20 people at my home in August, where the Executive Chef Pedro Uribe of the family-owned European boutique Ayres Hotel chain will create a fabulous menu and cook for all 20 of my guests.
My husband and I will contribute 100% of the money donated that evening to Just Like My Child Foundation. [If you would like to be a guest in my home for a very elegant sit-down dinner - the ticket price is $100 per person. There are only a few seats left and 100% of your donation will go to Vivian Glyck's foundation!]
I invite all of my women friends and colleagues to consider how you can make a difference in our world as you build your own businesses. Here’s a lovely quote from Marianne Williamson, author of A Woman’s Worth. Read it a few times to truly appreciate all that she says.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Be sure to give me your personal insight into the rise of women entrepreneurs and let me know who else is making a difference in the world by commenting below. Ladies! Women entrepreneurs! Let all of us rise up!
Sending love,
Alicia

Alicia,
What a great article! Even though I have read that quote of Marianne Williamson it is well worth reading again and again. Thanks for sharing it here.

Alicia, thank you for sharing this post. This quote by Marianne Williamson brought tears to my eyes as it contains such a deep truth, it’s absolutely inspiring. I feel blessed to live in the world right now and be a part of this amazing movement where millions of women are waking up into their power and RISING. I’m looking forward to spending 3 amazing days with you and hundred of other women in October. I love that as we empowered women are stepping into our power and realizing our full potential that we also GIVE back with our full hearts. I am grateful to be surrounded by women like yoursef and, Lisa, Ellie and Vivian and be a part of amazing causes that are making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children and parents around the world, entire communities and countries.

Hi Alicia,
It sounds like you are heading out to Florida, if I remember right. Have a wonderful safe and fun trip.
I really miss you guys! I am again so thankful for all your training and guidance through the 8020/BDA experience. Just like you said, it has been a springboard for many of us.
I was thinking of women who make a difference. Let’s see Ann Sieg! I just had to mention her as an x-BDA!:-)
I think Kim Kiyosaki is doing great things for women. I am a member of Robert’s insiders and I am very impressed with her standards and how she is taking the lead for women entrepreneurs.
I am now a part of Curt Johnson’s newly formed Works Team Freedom Network leadership group. I know you know what a privilege it is to work closely with Curt. I am very excited about this new venture.
Say “hi” to Lisa!
Blessings,
Dee

Dear Donna,
I’m of the firm belief that we as women must come together and work as a community. There is so much work to be done to get our world in tip top shape. Empowering women strengthens our ability to help and serve in BIG ways. You, my dear, are serving in a big way, by caring for your elderly mother. Not many in our U.S. culture choose to take on this responsibility, of caring for our own parents, but I think it is a huge statement to the world. Personally, I’m preparing to do the same, and I look forward to the next phase of my life journey in caring for those who once cared for me.
Sending love,
Alicia
Hi Didi,
You are so welcome! It’s hard not to be inspired by other great women in our lives….and find ways to continue to give back to the world. I believe we were placed on this earth, to serve one another, whether they are friends, family or strangers in other parts of the world. Looking forward to seeing you very soon!
Sending love,
Alicia
Dear Dee,
We miss you too! Thanks for sharing with us the women who are making a difference. Ann Sieg has been a long-time personal friend and she’s made tremendous strides in the network marketing niche! I’m also impressed with Kim Kiyosaki! There are so many more women to mention. I find as I continue to learn outside my ‘community’ I gain even more perspective on the world.
Congratulations on working with Curt Johnson. Curt personally coached me for a few months when I first started online marketing. He’s a wonderful man, full of goodness and a big heart!
Sending love,
Alicia
Super! Even as a man, I wish I had the entrepreneurial spirit that Alicia has. But I can feel inspiration flowing again. Soon, oh yes one day. Wishing you all the success.
