I write this article today with a very heavy heart.

My friend Vivian Glyck who is the Founder of Just Like My Child Foundation received sad news this morning about the death of a little boy named George.

Little George died this morning from AIDS.

Living in Uganda, amidst poverty and disease, he received the best care possible as the result of Vivian’s foundation, Just Like My Child (rather than dying in pain in a mud hut in the middle of nowhere).

You see, Just Like My Child Foundation is a non-profit organization and the proceeds raised go back to helping the children of Uganda. Not only the children, but also the families in rural villages of Africa with little or no help from the outside world.

In fact, George’s mother Florence is on ARV treatment for AIDS through the generous donations of Vivian’s organization.  And his sister, Nyangoma  is attending one of the best schools in Uganda as a result of a Just Like My Child sponsorship (when Vivian first met her she could not read or write, speak English, nor was she in school).

The beauty of Vivian’s foundation is that they work to educate and empower these families so that they can help themselves.

You know what pride is.

When we hear these stories of death, poverty, and disease, we think to ourselves, “How can I make a difference so far away?”
